Introduction to Mr Angelo Respeggi

History

Mr Angelo Respeggi is a 48 year old male referred from his GP because of suicidal ideation. Mr Respiggi has been seeing his GP for treatment for depression for 18 months. He has been consulting his GP on and off for 10 years but his depression worsened after the death of his son (aged 19 years) in a car accident 18 months ago.  Recently Mr Respiggi has complained that his marriage is not working and his depression has intensified. He also reported to his GP that he was made redundant from his work last month, partly because of his sick leave. He said he was just too tied to go to work all the time. His GP said Mr Respiggi had complained of worsening symptoms over the past month including worthlessness and inability to get out of bed most days. Over the last 2 weeks Mr Respiggi said he wanted to end it all, if he could get the courage.  His GP increased his antidepressant Amitriptyline from 100mgs to 150mgs daily.
