Simulation Laboratory Activities Day 7 (Week 4)

Nursing Handover
Mr. Jones’s condition is stable. I.V. Heparin infusion to continue according to medication orders. Vital signs are within normal limits. Pt. monitoring in SR. Pt. education pre cardiac surgery has commenced by the previous shift including: written literature on CABG surgery, CT ICU visit, meeting with NUM and family conference.
Current Vital Signs:
- HR: 68 SR
- BP: 143/78
- TEMP: 36.7 degrees Celsius
- RR: 14
- SpO2: 95% on room air
Simulation Laboratory Activities
It is now 2000hrs, as the registered nurse assigned to care for Mr.Jones you are required to undertake the following activities for this shift:
- Nursing assessment
- Administer oral medications
- Neurovascular observations
- Apply TED stockings
- Give Patient education session on Leg exercises
- Change I.V. Heparin infusion as per medication orders
- Write Nursing report at the end of shift
- Update Multidisciplinary Careplan (MDCP)
