Week 9
Nursing Simulation Laboratory: Review of clinical skills
Mrs. Jones is due to be discharged home from hospital today. She is mobilising around the ward with the help of a walking stick. Her observations are being attended b.d. and are all within normal limits. Mrs. Jones’ daughter is on holiday from uni and will be able to assist her at home over the next few weeks. A community nurse has been arranged to visit Mrs. Jones at home to monitor her progress and to check on the continued healing of both her surgical wound and the decubitus ulcer on her right heel. Mrs. Jones has a follow-up appointment for a check-up with her surgeon in 6 weeks time.
Before Mrs. Jones’ daughter takes her home she needs to have the dressing on her left hip attended to.
This week in the nursing laboratory students will have the opportunity to practise and consolidate all the clinical skills that have been explored this semester.
