1st Year Nurses
Welcome to the Virtual Health Environment (VHE)
The ACU National University (ACU) Virtual Health Environment Website was developed in 2002 in anticipation to create 'real to life' clinical scenarios that a Registered Nurse may experience. Components of the website include; patient scenarios, directives for patient care to be initiated within the ACU nursing laboratories, databases to assist in clinical decision making, tutorial guidelines (including relevant literature directly related to patient scenarios), current policy and procedures currently adopted at St. Vincent's Hospital, Sydney, a lecturer to student communication facility and links to other relevant websites.
Initially the Virtual Health Environment was only accessible to third year undergraduate nursing students. Feedback from the third year nursing students indicated the Virtual Health Environment was like a "a one-stop shop," "user friendly and accessible from any PC," "created patient scenarios experienced out there on the wards," and "provided clear guidelines for clinical skills." Comments such as these have motivated the developers of this online educational tool to make it accessible to all undergraduate nursing students at the ACU Mackillop Campus.
